The terms that apply when you use our website and enrol in our courses, programmes and events.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms and conditions apply to everyone who uses our website and to every course, programme, exam, competition, camp or other service you buy from or join with TEFL Wonderland – Brilliant Minds (“we”, “us”). We also trade as Brilliant Minds, Brilliant Minds Learning and TEFL Wonderland. Our office is at 440 Laurier Ave. W., Suite 200, Ottawa, Ontario K1R 7X6, Canada.
By using our website, placing an order at checkout or joining one of our programmes, you accept these terms, our Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy and the centre Policies and Procedures. If you do not accept them, please do not use our website or services.
You must be at least 18 to place an order. A parent or guardian must place the order for anyone under 18 and enter the student’s details at checkout.
TESOL qualifications require advanced English, at CEFR level C1 or above. We may ask for proof, such as IELTS (band 7), TOEFL (95 to 120), the Duolingo English Test (110 or above) or an equivalent. Some programmes, such as Teach Abroad, have their own requirements, which are shown on their pages.
We may ask for identification, a recent photo or proof of English level. If you do not provide them, we may delay or cancel your enrolment.
When you place an order, you confirm that the details you give are accurate. We send an email confirmation when your order is received. If we cannot accept an order, we will tell you and you will not be charged, or we will refund you in full. We may decline an enrolment.
Prices are in US dollars (USD). Prices and offers can change at any time, but a change never affects an order you have already paid for. Payments are processed securely by Stripe and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card details.
Each order is for one course or registration, except team registrations for INVOPRENEUR, where one person may pay for up to three team members. Taxes, where they apply, are shown at checkout.
After you pay, our team emails your course access or next steps. Online courses have a set access period, shown on the course page. You can extend your access by buying an extension, as described in our Policies and Procedures.
Submit final assignments at least 2 weeks before your access ends, so there is time to mark them and, if needed, for you to resubmit. Your access is personal: you may not share it or transfer it to someone else.
Coaching, tutoring, speaking simulations and other live sessions are booked with our team after you pay. If you do not attend a booked online session (a no-show), the session counts as used and is not refunded.
Certification courses are assessed as Pass or Fail. The pass mark is 70%, and you have three attempts at each quiz or assignment. Tutors normally mark assignments within 5 business days.
When you pass and meet all course requirements on time, you receive an e-certificate with a verification code or QR code. Regulated qualifications are issued by the awarding organisation. A printed copy of a certificate costs USD $20 and is posted within 14 days.
Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your passport or national ID when you enrol, because it is printed on your certificate. Gatehouse Awards certificates show all the names on your ID. If you ask us to change the name on a certificate after it has been issued, you pay the reissue fee. We may suggest a Level 3 qualification instead of Level 5 if it suits your work better.
Plagiarism, collusion, cheating, impersonation or other malpractice leads to failing the course, without a refund, and may lead to your enrolment being ended. See the malpractice section of our Policies and Procedures.
The WEB Olympiad, INVOPRENEUR, the Creative Teacher Award, the Niagara Falls STEM & Leadership Camp and Teach Abroad also have their own rules, dates and requirements, published on their pages or in their regulations. If those rules and these terms differ, the programme’s own rules apply to that programme.
Prizes, discounts and invitations are given as described in each programme’s rules and cannot be exchanged for cash unless the rules say so. Travel, visas and travel insurance for in-person events are your responsibility unless the programme page says they are included. We provide invitation letters where stated, but we cannot guarantee that a visa will be granted.
You can cancel and ask for a refund as described in our Refund Policy. Refunds are paid minus payment processing fees. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.
Keep your login details private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used them. You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy and treat tutors, staff and other learners with respect. We may monitor and record the use of our technology and live sessions, as the law allows, to protect learners and maintain quality.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, behave in a disruptive or abusive way, commit malpractice, or do not provide proof of identity or English level when asked. If we end your access for these reasons, you are not entitled to a refund or certificate.
We own, or are licensed to use, our technology, courses and content. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning while your access lasts. You may not copy, share, sell or publish our course content, questions or assessments.
You keep ownership of your own work. If you post comments, reviews or messages in our community spaces, you allow us to display them in connection with our services. INVOPRENEUR participants keep ownership of their projects and intellectual property.
Our website links to, or uses, services run by others, such as payment providers, review platforms, video and booking tools and our learning platform. We are not responsible for their content or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
We take care to keep our information accurate and our services available, but we cannot promise that our technology will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Please use up-to-date anti-virus software when downloading any files.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses, and our total responsibility to you for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that cannot be limited by law.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, pandemics, war, strikes or failures of internet or power services. If such an event stops a course or event, we will offer you an alternative date, a transfer or a refund.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies to orders placed after the date shown at the top. If a change affects a course you are enrolled in, we will email you. Major changes to course content are announced in advance.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario, Canada, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
